The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Carmel, has been a good neighbor and active community member for more than 100 years. The church has been in multiple locations and structures over this period and is planning further adjustments to its land and buildings in the next several years to meet current and future needs. In doing so, the goal of the membership is to continue to benefit the community by providing healing Christian Science church and Sunday School services and a Reading Room that offers a peaceful atmosphere for study and prayer. Any development plans the church pursues will also consider the needs of the surrounding Carmel community, including additional housing and outdoor spaces that help beautify the area.
